Anyone had any dramas with these? I had mine running fine in the EA for about 6 months, and yesterday I put it into the ED and it wouldnt start. I could hear it working when I turned the key, but no fuel was being pumped... checked all hoses and conections and all was cool.
I had to put the stocker back in and run with that. Can pumps be tested in an easy way? |

Walbro make most of the OEM pumps for most brands out there so their quality is usually excellent. But I guess any brand will have failures so you may just be the unlucky one. As far as I am aware the only way to test them is to plug them in and see if they pump the fuel, other than that you just run volume and pressure tests to see if they are up to spec.

im running a walbro 255 in mine, and don't have or had any problems with it yet .... hopefully!

so your runnign one on your car and no probs at all done chew extra juice or anything cause i was thinking of throwing one in and jsut adjust it downa little on the adjustable fuel reg

nope don't go throw fuel anymore than a stocko one, you will only notice the difference if you start boosting you motor . then the walbro will work more . |

thats down the track just i got a few pumps sittign around there al used im like cna buy a good onethat will def work for the same money a sa new one from ford

Yeah the stock one is mangaing suprsingly well at the moment... maybe the cars got alot less power than I think it has

There are a few different Walbro Mustang 255lph fuel pumps and some are not designed to run with our system. THe GSS342 (which is the cheapest) is designed to run with returnless fuel systems which means it is designed to pump up to the pressure and then only pumps on demand - our system being a return system pumps constantly and tends to destroy pumps not designed for it. The GSS 340 is the correct pump
A quote from my American supplier "Yes, the 342 is a high pressure pump but it is not the correct one for a '79-98 Mustang. People use those in '99+ Mustang but they are not the correct pumps for those years because they do not last long under variable voltage. The 340 model would be the correct unit for '79-98 applications. It uses the standard large filter while the 342 uses a smaller filter to fit inside a plastic canister." Shane

Thanks Shane, it a GSS 341 though... is that the same as 340?

Shane I was told the 340/1/2 are exactlyt the same pumps internally, the only difference being the outlet configuration. I will have to chase this up because I am pretty sure I have a 342 in mine |
