I got quotes some time ago from boostin Oz and from memory they were ~$1600 for the stinger and ~$2300 for the 8860 (fitted and tuned). At this time JMM listed the interceptors at ~$1800 on his website (which is an outrageous price for an interceptor type computer).
Who is the tuner who is recommending the interceptor. Apart from Towler I dont know anyone else in Adelaide that deals with there stuff.

The JMM interceptor is pretty old-school technology, and pretty expensive IMO.
Its an updated version of the old TSI interceptor that supports sequential injector firing (TSI had to be batch fired). The EEC strategies have been used in motorsport for many years, including Benetton F1. I think it would be fair to say that it has had many millions of dollars spent developing it over the years. |

would it be fair to say that using a jmm over stinger or other aftermarket ecu on my 347 will cost me kw's??

If it was well tuned, probably not.

It (JMM Interceptor) wouldn't be my choice. JMM seemed to ditch them pretty quick before becoming a CAPA/SCT tuner...
What where the problems you encountered with the Elimintor chip? Where CAPA unable to help? Who was the tuner? |

Hmm...thats disappointing, but still doesn't answer my question. I'd still be interested to know what sort of problems your tuner encountered, and why CAPA was not able to help...(?) |

If you want to make a quik ph call you can ask him yourself 0882814412 ask for steve, you can ask him about the ed with the wade cam that had one fitted elsewhere and asked him to try and tune it,my car is the red xr8 that he couldn't get to run,you could even ask him why he prefers jmm i'd be intetrested in wat he tells u,he recommended to me so thats wat i went for but i must say after all the neg feedback on this forum i may have made a mistake.

The Capa Edit chips have to be tuned in stages by seeing what parameters in the fuel maps improve the performance after running the engine under load on the dyno. Ie chose a new fuel map setting, shut down car, log on to edit ,down load, disconnect , run on dyno, see if result is correct.
Very user unfriendly, a bit like using Windows 3.11 when Windows XP is available. Supposedly there is a limitation how far the Capa edit will tune, not sure of the density of the parameters but have been told that it is mainly for improving standard or near standard performance. On the other hand the JMM Interceptor can be tuned "on the fly" IE as you are running on the dyno, fuel maps and timing can be altered, saving timing in tuning and also ease of tuning, also you dont get sick and tired of stopping car engine plugging in laptop trying new setting disconnect and test. The parameters on a JMM Interceptor are wider supposedly. The law ( in South Australia, possibly other states) also states that you must maintain the Original ECU to manage the engine to comply with ADR and Roadworthy regulations, this way you can remain compliant, as far as I know. So those of you running aftermarket ECU's may be Defectable, your choice. Any one wish to add to this ...

Well, I finally got round to fitting my JMM Interceptor on Sunday, only to find that the brand new adaptor ( USB to 9pin Serial) was stuffed. I had to move it around like a TV antetna to get it to work. I got another one now, so will try again this w/end.
