Want to advance the timing on my EA for premium fuel (BP Ultimate98)
Im told to do this i need to put my car into diagnostic mode first.

I was told by another forum user that to do this there is a white connector on the right hand strut tower. All i need to do is bridge the first 2 contacts (top and bottom)

I looked under my bonnet and was unable to find the whice connector. There are a few other plugs there however.

1) A largeish black plug, with 2 wires going into it. 1 is black with a white stripe, the other white with a black stripe.

2) A Small grey plug, with only a white wire with red stripe.

3) A red wire with a bullet type connector socket on the end

4) A Small grey plug, with only an orange wire.

5) A small white plug with a green wire, and an orange wire.

Does anybody know what these are?

OR can anybody tell me how to get my car into diagnostic mode, keeping in mind the plugs that are in the location that was described to me.

OK here it is,

You need to earth the 'self diagnosis input connector" this is located near the brake master cylinder, it is a single wire with a small plug on it. According to the wiring diagram it is a white wire.
There is a larger plug next to it, this is the output connector, you do not touch this one to check base timing only the input connector. I remember I use to earth it to a strut bolt using a small jumper lead I made up.
