Can I get a break-down on the following...
6 = EL
T = Tickford Gas / LPG
E = Fairmont?
B = Revision number?

Parts first used in the EL are prefixed 96DA (or 96DT for Tickford parts). The 2nd and 4th characters of the part no. prefix are the first 2 characters of the catch code. So the T means any Tickford item, for an ECU therefore it can mean LPG or XR. The E means a distinct model of ECU, which may not correspond to a model of car. In the AU for example, there is an ECU for Forte/Futura/Fairmont, another for the same cars with LPG, yet another for the same cars with police pack. In your case the E most likely denotes LPG/Dual-Fuel. The final character is, as you say, the revision level.

So if you use an ECU that's not 6TEB it will interfere with the LPG functionality. It might switch between petrol and LPG, but it definitely won't have the dual spark maps, which will hurt your performance and econmomy on LPG.

In the AU, stuff like
Quote:
Trip computer? Climate control? Speed sensitive wipers?
is handled by the BEM (Body Electronics Module) which is separate to the PCM (ECU). I've NFI how it's done in E-series though, but I wouldn't expect any of this stuff to be in the PCM.

sly - VERY informative... thanks!

I got a 6TGE (i think) and it runs the LPG... but idles low (about 600rpm). Petrol is fine, just LPG has this issue.

It locks-up the torque converter at 50km/h in 3rd, and 80km/h in 4th - so it might be from a ute and panel van.

My car is running fine on LPG, and pulling hard on both petrol and LPG.

perhaps not the right place for this post (not being entirely ECU Catch Code related) but sly deserves a '1 UP' for his post ;)

get your original catch code, then talk to Jason (galapogos01) and he will be able to give you a chip with more than likely your original binary on it, so you can make any other ECU from an EL the same as your original ECU

Hey fellas. Have an ECU with a 4DKE catch code from a 95 EF XR8 Auto.
Would this be correct in your opinion?

Hi Jaysen

Located in Perth. Am going to try to run the ECU in my NF Fairlane that is getting GT40P heads, GT40 manifold, Defilippo headers and custom adjustable MAF to see if there is any performance improvement to be had. May be a few weeks but I will let you know how it goes. Regards Greg

Hi. Could not find this catch code in any of the lists. The car was a 6/95 XR8 that it came from. Catch code was very close to the one listed for the Pursuity in the main list, but not exact. Where did you get your info from if you dont mind me asking? Regards Greg

If you have speed sensitive steering, you will notice that will be gone when you fit the ECU, but Im not keen on SSS anyway, I found it rather amusing when I took it away from MitchG911 and OneFordDrone for thier auto to manual EEC conversions
