My Book say's:

7/93 onwards: ED 4.0 Auto, Sedan, 3.08:1

Obviously will work in pretty much anything or the same era.

Could some one suggest what ECU's will work in my 1996 XH 4.0L Auto 3.23 Poverty pack ute.
It currently has a 5DBB, not original anyway.
Any help would be great cheers

5DBB is the XH's original ECU.. the thing with the XH's (series one) is that its basicly an EF ECU but without BBM control.. you could try a 5TBx = EF 4.0L Auto - XR6 (x = being any letter) but not sure how it would go with out the BBM..

What is BBM control?
Will it matter that EF is coil pack and XH has the distributor?

On a different matter, is it possible to install a factory Tickford dual fuel ECU with after market LPG and take advantage of the duel advance curves?
This would be ideal for both of my cars AU & XH dual fuel.

Hi mate, thanks for your help on telling me what I need for my EF Wagon manual conversion to date...

Can you please tell me if a 4TBC (Part # 94DT- 12A650- BC) will do the trick? What does the B designate rather than the A as you suggest?

This has me stumped - As a 4TBD is listed as a Fairmont Ghia Sedan AUTO - yet this is listed on TradeMe as an EF XR6 MANUAL ECU. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =202638565

I was going to buy this from TradeMe, and am now going to have to wait until someone can tell me what the damn thing is. I've already told the guy I would buy it too, so if anyone could get back to me quick smart it will avoid his, and my own, disappointment.

afaik the 4tbd is tickford engined auto. being listed as a fairmont ghia could be correct some series 2 ef ghias has tickford engines..
so it could be used in ghia or xr6..

this is what the numbers mean.
4= year.eg 94
t= engine.eg tickford or d=ford
b=transmision.eg auto.a=manual
c=series. or revision..eg a/b/c/( g and e i think are lpg)

Thanks, had a funny feeling about that when I read ---
This auction is for one EF Ford Falcon XR6 Engine ECU For a manual. Part # 94DT- 12A650- BC. Make sure this match's what you need before buying.
--- as I would convert that to 4TBC, not 4TAC. Then I clicked on picture... Ah well, bugger. Hope the exchange rate doesn't drop much more before I can afford one of those bloody J3's that has been lurking under my "buy now" finger for oh-so-long.

Thanks heaps for the reply so quickly. Is everyone 100% in agreement that this four tee BEE cee is AUTO?! There's not a single chance in hell it is manual?!

Its an Auto == XR fuel maps == Does not have XR transmission maps or the rev limiter cut == Still better than an Stocko Fairmont ecu

Interestingly, my car currently has a 4DCx (auto) and there appears to be many many different third letter combinations for different things. xxAx is MANUAL, right? xxBx is auto, so is xxCx, so is..... You get the picture...

Guess that some of xx?x's are designating things like LPG LWB, PETROL LSD or combination's of?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me the box code of a Pre-Smartlock EBII Auto ECU?

I need access to one for some R&D into disabling smartlock.

Cheers,
Jason

Hiya peoples,

Wondering if i can use a 5DCA inplace of a 4DCC, in a EF 4L Fairmont Ghia and if so, what differences would there be.

ie speedo out? Trans shifting? Speed Sensituve Steering etc

Thanks in advance
