Interesting - I am the Second Owner of my car and the Orig ECU is 4DCD
- was a company Lease car and was serviced always by Ford Just purchased the 4DCF which should just be a more current revision (Fourth digit is the ECU revision) I will check through the Records in its Book to see if the ECU was replaced - although I have never replaced it

You're running a J3 -- which overrides the bin.. doesn't matter what code it is!

Yeah thats right but the J3 chip does not change or overide shift points
And from reading through this thread LWB or Wagons ECU's had diff shift points to sedans ?

The chip does override shift points - the ECU has no choice but to use the shift points which are in the bin on the chip; i.e. if you use an XR6 base tune for your chip, you will get XR6 shift points. You just cant customise them, as the definition has not been worked out.
LWB and Wagons have more 'touchy' shift points from what I understand, kind of like the shift pattern used when the A/C is on, to make the car seem more responsive. Cheers, Jason

Thanks Jason for the explanation
Base Tune is a 4TBD

only V8 shift points aren't controlled by the ECU they have a seperate unit for the trans. - i'm after one from a XR8 or ex HWP car.

Help PLEASE tried to interpret the catch code for my EF, which I Think has a fried ECM idle circuit. Replaced ISC to no success. Its a 4DBC part no: 94DA-12A650-BC. I'm assuming it's just a standard Falcon EF 6cyl Auto ECU. Are there any other compatible ECU's that cross match for example futura, fairmont and so on. Thanks heaps people

According to my records:
4DBC - EF 4.0L Auto - Revision C - Gli, Futura, Fairmont. So ECU 4DB* (* = any letter) should suit you. I recon plenty of them available at nearest wreckers or at E-bay.
