AU1 had smartlock ECUs like E Series cars, but changed to smartshield ECUs mid way through the model, call it AU1.5, and the smartshield system has different rules in what you can and can't do with them.

Cheers

G'day guys, thanks for all the advice, i kinda knew the smartsheild setup needs to be fiddled by ford if you want to replace any of it but i wasnt sure about the smartlock system. So as long as i install the correct ecu into my futura it'll be all good! Hopefully once i replace my ecu my cooling fans will operate normally again and not be coming on/staying on for no reason! cheers, have a nice day guys, maka

I recently got an EB ghia which already had a T5 installed it runs fine because i drove it from melbourne to brisbane no problem.

I question is, how is it running on a 1DCC which according to page 14 is

1DCX - 91DA 12A650CX (X can be eather C,D,E) - EBII 10/92 on Smartlock 4.0L MPEFI Auto, Sedan (3.27 Axil)

There are some dramas with the EB so i have the engine and box in the ED and just want to sort which ecu to use untill im ready for a J3, which will be after the car is running and strapped to a dyno.

I have a spare loom plug just above the engine i have the injectors loom plugged in but close to it is another similar plug which i can't figure out goes there, is this where the resistor trick loom is suppose to plug in if so i have the resisters here but how was the car running without this?

Thanks in advance,

Regards.

the car can run without the resister trick..
in eb you only need 1 resistor..
the 1st resistor is for the ecu to think the ecu is in neutral to stop high idle, its not to start it..
and the 2nd resistor is only for ef/el to trick the ecu for trans temp, so the thermo fans dont run constantly...
