The diff ratios unaffected but it will be a 3.23 single legger, if it's an el fairmont.

I dont know if this information is relevent to anyone but i made an interesting discovery, My ef has/had a very random and not very often slight miss at low revs (below 1800, Idle or very light throttle) Otherwise runs perfect, Plugs, Leads new etc Fresh AU motor (90,000km), AU injectors etc
So i was tossing up between two causes either coil pack is starting to go slowly or the ecu is starting to go. My EF is a series 1 Fairmont ECU is 4DCC , I got a 4DCF ecu from the wreckers which i believe is a later revision of fairmont ecu I noticed that this revision of ECU caused the car to instantly use 1-1.5L per hundred more fuel, On a trip from sunshine coast way to brisbane i compared the both 4DCC did 7.1L Per 100 at 100km/h with cruise the 4DCF did 8.2, Unless its a fault in the ecu i thought thats crap for a later revision. although i think 7.1L per 100 in a 1994 falcon is impressive is this about normal?? thats over 900km out of a tank?

Hi guys,
Looking for confirmation on the code of an EL XR8 185kw ("Series 2"). I have read (in this forum) that it both is and isn't 6DFD. Can anyone confirm? The date released (1998) seems to indicate it'd be 185kw. I have googled for a while and haven't turned up a definitive result. Cheers, Jason

Stoked.
Does anyone know whether I can swap the ecu's straight over or whether security/BEM will get in the way? I have read conflicting info as to whether AU ecu's will swap over and run without being sync'd. Thanks

If it's smartlock you can just swap.

Mine is smartlock, fingers crossed the ecu is a smartlock and not S1.5 smartshield.

6DBA.NOW DOESNT OPTION 20 MEAN POLICE.ALSO CAN I RUN A FAIRMONT TICKFORD MOTOR IN MY CAR WITH THIS ECU |

Tickford engines will run off any std ecu (only minor internal differences). May possibly run better with an xr6 ecu and fuel pressure regulator, but you would be better off spending the money on a j3 chip n tune instead of changing ecu.
And yes jason, I will definately be going a j3 chip if it doesn't work out. Shame there's no one to custom tune in brissie though!

Okay due to an oversight (I think I was just excited and didn't look properly) I actually have a WTLB, which is June 99 - 2000. I have a feeling this may mean the ecu is a smartshield S1, where I think as my car being May 99 is a smartlock.
Looks like it will be on the auto ecu/j3 chip. On the bright side I can get some coin back by selling the ecu.
