Quote: Tickford engines will run off any std ecu (only minor internal differences). May possibly run better with an xr6 ecu and fuel pressure regulator, but you would be better off spending the money on a j3 chip n tune instead of changing ecu.

Hi All,
I've got a stock standard EF Fairmont V8. I'm about to get my hands on ex-chaser EF XR8 ECU (4DKE). My questions are: Will it work in my car? Is it safe? Will it do any damage to my car? Are there any benefits? Thank you all |

Thank you all answers - yes, yes, no, some! it will be fine, you might loose speed sensitive p/steer but no big loss power steer still works fine, wont damage the car,I have tried a 4DKF ex chaser one in my NF Fairlane and it went fine, there will be no rev limiter, but thats about all it does you should try to get the TCM for the auto as well for much better shifts too.

Thanks for the fast reply. Would it give me any extra power?

Thats a good question, when I swapped over it felt better but no dyno figures to prove it , but, it may have been resetting the ECU that made the difference, certainly can't hurt!

I just pulled the ecu out of my may 99 AU and it is a WABF that has had the F crossed out and a G inserted in niko.
Am I right in thinking that it must have come out as dual fuel, then had the gas system removed and the ecu retuned? What should I look for to verify if this is the case? Cheers Nick

Hi all,
I saw an ECU advertised on Ebay - catch code 2DLA. The bloke mentioned it was XR8 manual but he was not a 100% sure. Any ideas on what it could be? Cheers |

Hi All, Long time browser 1st time user.
If we are still compiling; my 4/95 Ef XR8 Manual Sedan (3.23 diff ratio) has the Catch Code: 4DDF. 15/2/95 date on it. Cheers |
