Last week i done the auto > manual conversion in my ute (AUII VCT XR6 Adaptive Shift) replaced with a tremec t5 retaining the auto ecu.
pin references are at the ecu. With the harness i cut off the injector type two pin plastic plug and wired in a 6.8k resistor(pin 64 & 91), this resulted in the dash reading 'N'. the two temp wires (Pin 37 & 91)from the big round plug i cut and soldered in 12k resistors (3 in series to = 12kohm). Also the four pin square oldskool plug i bridged out the starter inhibitor because a: the tremec box has no neutral switch and b: it shows it bridged in the manual wiring digram. The reverse wires i wired up to the reverse switch. It starts and drives fine, fans operate as normal. if i drive to the local shops (3.5k)however i usually get home and either one fan is on or they are both on half speed i'm not sure. If i drive into town (30kms) i have the fans on full for the whole time untill i turn the ignition off. even then if it's still relatively warm they will stay on when keyed again, only to come off when cooled right back down again (after shut down). they were a bit intermittent at first which led me to believe it was my dodgey wiring, all checked and checked again it's still the same. when i d/c the ecu to check at the pins i got all the right readings in the right places. so it's got me pharked whats going on. is it learning around a suspected failed auto temp sensor ? or should i just up the resister value to 15kohm so it thinks the auto is dead cold ? is there anything extra the adaptive shifts have that the ecu is expecting but not getting ? Any help would be much appreciated

im not sure about au, but e series is between 1.2 and 2.1 k ohms..
if you have resistance out of range the fans will come on full speed and ecu will get a fault code... |

thanks troyman, aren't they usually on full time when they are out of range though ? not variable still ? or does the ecu compound engine temp ?
the max ellery's i have says ecu expects 57ohm to 15.5kohm.

i would try a higher ohm resistor, if the ecu reads from 57 to 15.5k ohm the 15 ohm resistor would show a high trans temp.. im pretty sure the ecu also uses engine temp as reference aswell...

Thanks again Troyman, i'm pretty sure this is where the problem lies.
Also does the resistor have to be in the range selector ? reason i'm asking is if i get rid of it it won't read 'N' on the dash.

i would say it does need the resistor for the gear select, as if its out of range it might bump the idle up not knowing if it in gear or not,

wired in 14.8k. will know tommorow as i'm not in the habbit of taking 60km round trip happy laps.
