Hi guys

only difference on some police ones is that tha gear shift points (for auto's) were a litle different. and 4th gear is not accesable till 65-70. And im led to believe that some of the pursuits had no speed limiter. In terms of performance there is no gains realy. XR6 Ecu would be better bang for your buck.

I know all NSW EF/EL ex cop sedans were not speed limited, if you ever got to drive one, most of them would whip a stock XR6/XR8 (even a cop car) auto until XR8II was released, shift points were better and probably the fact they were flogged from day one. Stupidly I found out they exceeded doubled the speed limit with ease.

well mine has a little more go than standard. but i didnt think that much. then again after driving the old mans BA futura. his BA feels gutless and i feel my car would whoop his ( prob not the case tho) Mine is in vic and it is speed limited. I know i've had it bouncing on the speed limiter a few times.
so not only do i get to drive one mate i own one. and im telling you not all police issue falcons have the spped limiter removed. as far as im aware it was only the pusuit cars. An as i've recently swapped my ecu and swapped back to the origional. (not the problem i was having. thought it might have been) there was no change in performance. so maybe the OPT20's had motor differences to standard. not so much the ecu.

probably the diff ratio that makes em quicker OPT20 had either 3.23 single spin/lsd or 3.45 diff also tickford suspension setup, reading lights, 215s chaser rims dash with increments of 2km/h and ecu with different changes in the shift pattern so only goes into 4th after 65km/h no engine or trans mods though.

well both my EF and the old boys BA have 3.23s. personaly i dont think a police ECU makes sweet FA difference. accept for a bit perkier pickup from 60 as ur already in 3rd. When someone shows me a document from ford stating the specs of the opt 20's then maybe ill conceede that they make more power from the ecu till then i aint gona believe it.

Hmm... my XH won't kick into 4th until it's over 70km\h. And I don't think the cops would really have wanted a duel fuel XH as a chase car

Mate of mine has an ex cop au ute. used to be a K9 unit. Should have seen the shepard hair under the tub liner when we took it out. not to mention him being second owner and all the books saying QLD police and all that. goes bloody hard too. harder than any AU i ever driven.
I didnt say that only persuits were locked in 3rd till 65-70. that one is comon to all ex cop ef\el models.

well now that were well and truly off topic. Low_ef11 i think from memory i saw that Dynowog can reprogram ecu's PM him to find out. he would know better than most i think. certainly knows more than anyone who has replied. myself included.
