Just curious to see what milage people are getting out of a tank of fuel in an Ef 6cyl.
I travelled 150 km starting with the fuel gauge sitting in the middle of half and 3/4 full. Travelling at mostly 100km/h, and finished with the fuel gauge reading about 2-3 mm above the Orange empty part of the fuel gauge. Running vortex 98 fuel. |

Just to clarify, your fuel gauge was reading roughly half full and after 150km of driving the fuel gauge was reading just above empty? Was the light on? Sounds like a high fuel consumption. Just FYI, the fuel gauge is not accurate. Half full on the gauge could mean only 1/3 full physically. Best and most accurate way to work out your fuel economy is by filling it up full. Reset your odometer and drive until your next fill up. Record down the amount of fuel you put in and how many kilometers you got since the last fill up. I run 95/98 (pending fuel prices) in my EL. Drive mostly highway and get around 10L/100km (although highway, it is hilly), I get around 15L/100km city driving. To give you a better indication, I get ~400km from the F-line to the 3rd line. From 3rd line to just before the empty light turns on, I get ~200km. So 600km/60L roughly.

Thanks for that info. I also noticed this morning that the temp gauge sits on the C. Changing the thermostat to see what happens.

Changed the thermostat and filled up with vortex 98. So far getting a lot more milage, still with a bit over 1/4 of a tank left will see how far it gets until the fuel light comes on

I am pretty sure I have a 92C one from the last time I checked, but temp always sits quite low on the gauge, close to the "C" line. I might need to put in a hotter thermostat for winter to see how I go with fuel wise.

I didnt check the temp on the one i put in, i just got a standard non-bypass type one from SCA. the one that came out of it was a bypass type, not sure what the difference is but will see how it goes during winter.
