I have a ef falcon with a au 6 motor was recently running fine but I have changed the alternater and blew the 100 amp fues because I left the little insulation rubber of the alternator causing it to blow the fues. I have replace the insulation rubber to prevent it from earthing out and also replaced the 100 amp fues . Now the smart lock won't let me start the car . Any help would be great ???
Should I just get a bypass module of ebay do they really work ?? |

Have you gone through the 'Leave Ign on for 1/2 an hour till the Smartlock light on the dash stops flashing then start' yet?
When you say 'won't start' is it even cranking over? Or will it crank and not fire?

furthering on from what esteven mentioned...
the lamp blinks out a code which helps define the problem... what is the code? are any fuses under the dash blown, particularly the wiper and interior light fuses? Cheers, Tim

I have left it the key on the on position for 1 hour and still did not reset . The car doesn't turn over or even prime the fuel pump . Iv change 2 bcm modules .
If I by a bypass module will that solve my probelem? And how to I read codes and what do there stand for ? |

Sounds like you have blown other fuses. Check the CRT fuse in the cabin first & the rest while you're there.

if its not cranking, i doubt it would be smartlock, as smartlock will still crank, but kill either spark or fuel.

I have found 1 orange/green wire coming from the plug that connects to the bottom end of the bcm . The orange/green wire joins into the same wire as the plug to the bottom of the bcm connector .
Could this be a earth ?? Could this be a signal wire to the smart lock ? |

jake can you give a bit more info on what you did when the fuse blew?
is there any chance you connected the battery the wrong way around, or was it just the main terminal on the alternator shorted to the alternator case? remove the left hand kick panel and remove the ecu, and backprobe the red wire on pin 71/97 with the key on, you should have battery voltage on this wire. Also backprobe one of the red wires on the injector plugs with key on and should have battery voltage |

It has defanyly shorted by put the alternator wire on the back of the alternater with no insulation rubber .
Any ideas on what that loose wire is ? Orange/green ? |

If you shorted something out there is no loose wire... It has to be a blown fuse... Unless you find a big melted section of wire... Have you actually tested all the fuses with a test light or multimeter or are you only visually checking... A visual check wont confirm a blown fuse...
There really can't be anything else wrong by logical series of events... Also if you have no fuel pump prime then that also indicates you have a blown fuse... On your EF the smartlock and the BEM are one module... There is no signals sent through wiring because they're in the one same plastic case. The only signals sent out are the enable to the computer and the start signal to the star relay. If you spent five minutes and actually used a multimeter to check every fuse in the car and relays while you're going we wouldn't be still have this conversation... You asked for our help and we're trying to help you but you're looking under the wrong rocks presently... Cheers, Tim
