I just got a EF XR ECU for my upcoming manual conversion. I was also reading the thread on the fastest speeds and alot of XRs got up over 180km/h.
I knwo my Falcon has the limiter, but if I put the EF XR ECU in will ti remove the limiter at 180km/h? |

thats not a bad price you picked it up for. what are the other advantages of an xr ecu besides the speed limiter?

The speed limiter was you your vehicle for a reason. If you choose to ignore the rated speed limit of your vehicle, you are putting yourself and others at risk. The XR's were equipped with a different spec tailshaft to cope with the higher speed rating.

oh get serious... the falcon tailshaft is a beauty... I have never had a problem with it and I have done 500,000 in them in the past 12 years. The speed limiter was imposed by the cops/ govt after a stolen EA was speeding through melbourne on Springvale road with the cops chasing at over 200kph and they decided to try and stop it happening on future cars.

nar they're there for a reason mate.
falcon's have one of the longest single piece tailshafts in a family-sized car in the world. imaging the front cv joint snapping - end result would be a catapulted falcon. waggin - i'm chasing up an xr-spec tailshaft, so i plan to remove the limiter once it's in.

The tailshafts are definately different. One other benefit of using the XR ecu is a different timing curve to come more in line with the bbm manifold setup.
