its probably quite possible to bypass the smartlock system but its all a matter of time. if it takes a bunch of tools and half a day to by-pass the smartlock then a thief isn't gonna be able to do it in the carpark or your driveway in a few minutes, thus your car is safe.

why bother as it is a head case of a job to do & smartlock does fail from time to time.
A club lock will do fine & smart lock IS DUMB as I had my EF broken into & only when I got back & prees the key fob the horn went on & I found the door not shut properly & the pricks used packaging tape to reef the door handle.

I'm really not sure how hard this is, I'll be attempting this soon as I think I have all the parts I need. What i've got is the complete dash out of a Fairmont with smartlock and the ignition barrel and also most of the engine bay loom just to be sure.

Dont f**k around with trying to buy s**t from the wreckers to get smartlock going, just buy the bypass no f**k around and nothing dodgy its $350 but the Economy and power increase is hell worth it.

SmartLock is not an alarm, only an engine immobilser - it worked perfectly - they didn't steal your car.
