I no this has been brought up but , People must have found a way to run a smartlock ECU in a non smartlock car, as i have a keyless entry immobiliser already fitted on the car and i do not intend on fitting smartlock only trick it or bypass it, who has had any luck on this subject, i have just fitted the BBM and now would like to take advantage with the ECU and also auto control from an EL comp would also be nice, E.g lockup in 3rd at 60km for fuel economy , help would be much appreciated :)

good luck, theres been ALOT of posts here with ppl trying to do exactly that... because the ELA (electronic lock assembly) talks to the BEM which then talks to the ECU, tricking the ECU isnt easy... im not saying it cant be done, because im sure it can, but it wont be easy and will take time and money to sort out...

I don't have smartlock myself.. but here's what you could do.
The BEM and smartlock reside in the same "casings" up under the dash.. the BEM checks the key code 3 times, after been twice successful, it enables the starter motor, and the ECU, if it fails twice, it disables the above.

The ECU gets disabled by a series of data, modulated data.. smartlock ECUs without a smarlock module saying GO, don't work.

Therefore, the best way around this, is to have a second key barrel which is connected to smartlock, with the key always in (someone on here did that).

If you don't like that idea, keep your eyes open, I hear there's going to be something coming soon for you.

Cheers

by the way.. you could just USE the smartlock ignition barrel.. just means getting the doors and s**t changed aswell (as in the locks)... but it would be less dodgy.

Cheers

it can be done with joining things together... but that information is really on the dark side, and would help thieves.. so its best to keep quiet about it.

A few auto-sparkies in the know can do it apparently.
According to my old man, who used to own my ED, smartlock died ages ago, and an autosparky disabled it.
How he did this I don't know.
Also don't think my old man would have paid tree-fitty to get it fixed :P
