Just trying to solve a wee little problem. I have what I believe is a EF xr8 motor and 4 speed gearbox that has been put into my 67 mustang. I have been given two ECU's. The one for the motor is an EEC-IV. Now for the problem. The transmission ECU (Marked 90DA-7E453-CA) has two little yellow sockets but I can't find any little yellow sockets or any socket that fits. There is a big bunch of wires that come from the gearbox and connect up to the main wiring loom via one square and one round socket. Can anyone tell me what model gearbox this ECU is for and where the wiring for it is meant to be in case I have to track on down?
Many thanks! |

what you have is a TCM (Tranmission Controller Module) and it is normally located near the steering column under the dash... It even says TCM on it.
On the V8s, the ECU control the engine, but not the auto, that is done by the TCM a standalone unit... Cheers

Thanks for that. It looks like I'm missing some wiring. The two plugs that come from the TCM...what do they connect to?

Generally speaking most of the wires go back to the transmission. some go back to the ECU, and I guess some go to power.
Its all part of the main engine bay loom in EB/ED, and I'd assume its the same in the EF, or perhaps its also part of the crossover loom behind the dash..

From what I have read the EEC-IV did not have 104 pins and my ecu does. Could I assume that I don't need this other Electronic Tranmission Control box as I have an EEC-V ecu and would probably explain why there are no plugs for the box anyway.

EEC-V is 104 pin (Except EL 4L). On the V8's, EEC-V still uses the seperate TCM though, so if its from an EFXR8 like your first message says, then I would expect it to be EEC-V 104 pin.
