Gday all,
Having a few dramas with my XHXR6 at the moment, have had some pacies fitted recently, and have noticed following the fit that my fuel consumption has increased (pretty greatly). Before I used to get around 500-540 ks to the tank (Ultimate 98 only), where now Im lucky to get between 400-440. My driving style hasnt changed, nor have the conditions. I assume that after fitting extractors that I would have had better fuel economy. Do you think its possible that while they fitted my headers theyve buggered the 02 sensor or is the problem elsewhere. The ute is always in immaculate condition with clean filters, plugs, injectors so forth and always serviced, just now my fuel consumption has increased - wallet starting to bleed a bit more Any ideas?

Shouldn't of affected the oxy sensor unless they stuffed with it. Another cause could be a leak where the extractors fit to the head, even though its a leak it also pulls in fresh air giving the oxy sensor a lean reading, so the ecu puts in more fuel.

yeah id say the o2 might be buggered....and if they are real a**hole they might have swapped it over with a broken one to get u to come back to them...but thats just my theory.....
but yeah check O2 and maybe for any leaks at the manifolds.

I had similar issues after getting my pacies fitted to the EL, i got a new o2 sensor and also a temp sensor, changed all the spark plugs and got the fuel from 18.6 to where it sits now at 14.1

Possible they stuffed it especially if it was mettams mufflers.
I would get a new O2 sensor. My EF XR6 has pacemakers, 2.5" exhaust and I get about 600 - 650ks per tank. |

When fitting almost an extractors, the O2 sensor is moved further back down the pipes than where it normally sits.
Like any sensor they generally die over time and not be as responsive to a/f changes. So now what you have an old s**t O2 sensor, that didnt work properly in the first place, moved further back down the pipes (and most likely only looking at 3 cylinders) so its bound to not do as good a job anymore. $50 for a newie... Swap it over, and watch the difference. |

look on your extractors, its the lil thing bolted in with a wire hangin out of it......right down the end of the extractors near where it bolts onto the cat...
