Hi Guys I have tried for the last few weeks to wire in my EMS 4424 V4 ecu to me ED falcon, But still wont run, I can get it to run on the stock ECU, but wont run soon as the EMS is plugged in ** its setup to run the EL ECU not the ED ecu**
Its also stand alone ECU not piggy back, My wiring goes as follows I just checked all my wiring and this is how it all goes EEC V Pinout EL EMS Pinout Pin wire colour Pin wire colour Power Source & Ground 57 Red (Power) 10 Red 60 Black (Gnd) 9 Black (Gnd) TPS Connection 47 Green/Black 6 White/Black 26 Orange/Black 22 Red/Blue O2 Sensor wbo2 data wire/Blue 19 Grey 49 Grey/White 5 Orange Fuel Injectors 58 Light/Brown 23 Yellow 59 White 11 White Distributor 56 Dark Brown (looks Black) 8 Green Resistor from pin 57 on ed ecu to EMS pin 14 Pink If anyone can sort this out for me or point out where I have a problem ? would be muc appreciated & proberly helpful for others out there.

You'd probably be better off finding what exactly isnt working first.
Are you getting spark? Are you getting fuel? Do the injectors have power etc... |

Problem solved It was flooded...... sprayed some carby cleaner in it and fired up within 3 cranks, just sorting out my AC now.

Yea Troyman its a bit rich at idle ( 9.8-11) to 1100rpm and then leans out a little (14.8-17)after that and dont want to start if you leave it for more than 10 mins, but its a good start, and I havent put the laptop on it yet to calibrate everything.

ok..
the calibration files are already in it for the water temp and air temp sensors... each engine is slightly different for each tune.. that tune was done on a std el xr6 engine with a turbo.. so if your cam is different the idle load points will be different. ect.. but at light cruising speeds/load the afr should be on the lean side.. once you get your laptop on it you can remove a certain percentage from the fuel map or remove fuel from each load point.. although due to my cam, to get my car to idle smooth my idle afrs are around 11:1 |

Ok, I tried to connect my laptop to the EMS and still a No Go, thats 2 cables I have bought now and Im thinking maybe Ill just buy a EMS data cable and be done with it. Ive installed the driver for the cable and changed the COM ports and still nothing. Im thinking its maybe the cable? also I have tried 2 different laptops.

Try a different cable...as it connected to my laptop straight away..

Tried 2 cables, and same result maybe I should buy a genuine EMS 4424 cable, do you know what they are worth new? from EMS Troyman.
Also does you go from a RS232 to usb or RS232 on both ends?

yea try a genuine one.. i remember you saying your using a male to female adaptor aswell as the serial to usb adaptor.. the problem might be in the male to female addaptor??

what serial port am I supposed to use for the cable, hers a picture of my laptop port that is the only one thats not a USB port is that ok?
also I have tried a few cables, rs232 to usb (jaycar one) rs232 ebay one both with gender changers, to get them to connect. and a wolf3dV4 cable too Heres what happens when I try to access the ECU (what happens on the screen) So EMS will have the RS232 to USB genuine adaptor/cable? The port you have pictured is a VGA output (for external monitor)... Note the 3 rows of pins...
A T42 laptop does not have an onboard serial port... Most don't now as serial is a thing of the past... We had T42's at work... They had a PCMCIA card in them (the big slots on the left side) which gave two RS232 ports... You will either need one of them or a USB to RS232 adaptor... These are available anywhere... And a serial cable wto go from it to the ECU... Cheers, Tim

Attachment: ABCD0007 (2).JPG So by next week I should be able to access my EMS via Laptop with the EMS cable then to the RS-232-USB cable Horay.....
