I have a EL Fairmont Ghia, and I am currently for the first time trying to replace the fuel filter.

When I removed the original, it was the Ryco aluminum Z373 and its being replcaed by the new Ryco Z373 steel ones. The problem I am having is that the original one is about an inch longer than the new ones, and the fuel lines are sitting properly in it. Everything I switch on so the fuel pump pumps fuel through, it leaks on one side, so I move the filter a different way, and it leaks from the other side. I put the original filter back in and no leaks or dramas.

Is there a new technique to fitting these new shorter fuel filters in Falcons, or am I just doing it wrong??

JD

I picked up a filter for a guy a while back, same issue, turned out they had packed the wrong filter in the box, whole batch at the store was the same. Used a different brand, no issue.

Really?? That's totally bizarre lol...

The original one I could say from my first post, was the Repco brand. I went back to Repco to exchange it for the Ryco brand, and it too was the shorter one. I then bit the bullet and went to Ford this afternoon to see whether the Motocraft one would be the same, and it too was different. The original one is the Z373, but it wouldn't be a different depending on whether cause its a Fairmont Ghia with Tickford engine... I don't think it does, but maybe I am wrong?
