Hi guys,
I have a hunch my fuel guage may be dodgy. Does anyone know what resistance the sender should read empty and full ? Also, if its the guage itself, how do i test it ? Cheers Tj |

Not knowing what sort of car you have I have no idea what the resistance should be. But if you have Falcon/Fairmont/Fairlane/LTD, XD onwards the senders do stuff up due to water in the fuel tank. Sometimes a cup full of metho will fix it, other times its a new sender.

Yes , knowin what sort of car would be most helpfull....
Its an EA Spak, with the full Sports Dash. I have had the fuel sender out and cleaned it, i also tested it, it appears to be working , although i need to know the resistance values to confirm that its in range. Thanks in advance. |

What's it doing wrong? they can be rather inaccurate given the right hill.. I know mine on an upwards hill goes to empty, and vice versa. Are you sure its screwing up?
Cheers

Yeah im sure its screwing up, driving along on a flat road, had half a tank in it, look down, and the guage is going down to empty rather quickly. Only had done 250 odd k's on a full tank, and sure enough when i checked how much fuel was in the tank, its was about half full.
Ive checked the things i can think if, like earthing, shorts, ect ect. Cheers |

does the gauge stay in a certain spot? does it move up and down radically? if it was a short, Im pretty sure it would be hardly working... if its going up when fueled up or turned, and then going down really fast, could be something else rather than the guage...?
Cheers
