ok im only new to this stuff andly need some help. i have a ef xr6 and have just bought a snort kit for it. with the kit i was given a 12.1 fuel pressure regulator... one thing i dont know what it does, why its necessary or where it goes and how to put it in can someone give me the lowdown on it please. i am planning to use standard fuel pump with ford motorsport 42lbs injectors

You should deffinately need it because just putting bigger injectors into a car with out increasing the fuel pressure is relatively useless. I am not totally sure but it will probably be a rising rate fuel pressure reg too so as the boost climbs the pressure climbs, also needed on a turbo car. As far as fitting it with out seeing it can't be sure on that but if it is a standard replacement it will bolt onto the your fuel rail (at the back of the rail near the firewall) with two bolts. If it is not a standard replacement youy will have to modify your fuel rail to fit it. I have modified mine by capping the hole then brazing a 90 degree fitting into it and sitting my adjustable fuel pressure reg bside my intake manifold. Another way i have seen it done is to remove the diafram and spring from the stock pressure reg so fuel basicly flows straight through it and then running fuel lines to your reg, i reccon this is way too much effort though. My car is not turbo so any turbo specific fuel issues i am not 100% on. Hope you can get something helpful from this.

Ignore the post above this one.
The reason you get a 12:1 reg is to look after fuel with the stock ECU. It increases fuel rail pressure in a non linear fashion. For example. Stock fuel pressure, 40psi, running 5psi of boost, now equals 100psi of pressure in the rail. Whereas with the stock regulator (which is 1:1) you would have 45psi of pressure. This is so you get more fuel in on boost, so it doesn't lean out. If you are using an aftermarket ECU, flog it off. If you are planning on using stock ECU, and run low boost, piss off the 42lb/h injectors, they won't work with the stock ECU. Also upgrade your fuel pump either way.

thanks for the help. i was planning on using the capa eliminator chip. i also have ba injectors that i was going to use originally. for now i only want to break the 200kw mark. in the latest street fords mag there is a ef turbo with the same kit as mine running the ford motorsport 42lbs injectors the same 12:1 fuel pressure reg with only the capa eliminator chip to tune it. i was planning on doing the same thing but am unsure about the fuel pressure reg

I'd speak to whoever will be tuning the car, see what he wants to do.
I would say in that EFs case the 12:1 reg is being used as a bandaid for the fact that the EEC cannot be scaled to recognise boost? Seems silly to be using 42s then... You will 100% need a decent fuel pump doing that, the stock pump will not work well with that sort of pressure in the rail.

you keep the original one, you plumb it in the fuel return..
as you can see in the pic the fitting coming from the middle goes to the reg, and the side connection is looped back aroud to the fuel return pipe..
