Hey guys im in the middle of replacing my fuel pump and im just about to put it back in the tank,only problem is there is a little floating box in the tank?? unsure what that is does the pump sit in it? and is there a particular way that the strainer fits? on the end of the pump..
cheers replies ASAP would be much appreciated as im in the middle of doing it

The long bit of the filter faces the front of the car, slightly angled to the right.

ok cool thanks. what about the plastic container sitting in the tank? fuel pump doesnt sit in it then?

Yeah the pump should locate itself in there, it helps prevent fuel starving. Just drop it in with the fittings facing forward.

thanks mate appreciate it. does the strainer get in the way when putting it inside the container?

If its angled correctly it will just sit in it. Be careful of the fuel float tho when inserting it, it won't take much to mess it up and have your gauge read wrong.
