Hey everyone well today i took the car in just to get a small service and aparently the car is in vgc i thought it was a bucket of s**t but aparently not. He couldnt find any problems other then the injectors arent flowing properly some only at 50% when he put the computer onto it. He told me that they can clean them on the car with some carbon based thing and its bout $150 to get it done. I just wanted to know if this is a good way to go about it? Ive heard about some supersonic or wateva it is but i really doubt anyone in town has this. Oh this was at midas and my car is a 96 EF.

Oh and while im here will mineral oil do any damage to my engine? Thats all i got put in for the service cause its cheap....It should atleast be alright for 5000 - 10000 kms right?

How much does that usually cost? Are they easy to take out?

well the on car system does seem to work not bad and they say it does help clean the carbon off the valves.

Id like to see a computer tells u that ur injectors arnt flowing corectly with out pulling them out and doing a flow test on them

it is a good idear to change the spark plugs after the injection serive but dont have to

The comp knows what duty cycle the injectors "should" be at and what they "are" at... thats how it knows if they are not flowing enough

a dirty injector will still open and close at the same time that the ecu tells it to, unless the coil in it is f**k. but what comes out of it will depend on pressure and how clean it is which the computer wont know. the only thing the computer will know is its relative compression and smooth running test.

For reference, I've been quoted $20 per injector.. That's $200 for me.

EEC should be able to tell by the HEGO feedback loop if fuel mixture is equating to pulse width *within reason*. Maybe just got a "constantly lean" error from EEC?

Anyways - i've been told a reconditioned injector (i.e. new pintles, gauze, selas etc.) costs about the same as having them sonically cleaned and flowed?

Where did you get them done ArTisT? I'm thinking about getting mine cleaned in the next few months....Did you notice a big difference when it got done?

My EF's currently got a misfire, and i'm hoping an injector clean will help. It had a compression test not too long ago and passed with flying colours, and it had new plugs put in at the same time...
