lol, its a module that basically takes care of advancing and the like, it recieves a signal (hall effect sensor as you may already know), and sends it to the ECU (I thinkt they call this the PIP signal), and then the ECU tells the HEI module to fire the coil (the SPOUT signal I believe)... I'm still learning with this stuff, but yeah.
The high current IGBT circuit, gets rid of the HEI module, and fires the coil directly through megasquirt.. This uses the VB921's, which I can't find in australia, so you should order that if you are thinking about it. It aint that much more, but later if you decide to use it, it will be there, instead of $18 postage lol. Do some research, and if you got a workshop manual, check out the ECU wiring, you will see the dizzy module, and all the wires, it'll make sense from there. Cheers

have a looky here for more information..
{DESCRIPTION} I posted up the wiring diagram. Have a look at the TFI module, and some of the other things needed to hook up. Just gives you an idea. There's alot on the TFI module on the megasquirt forums... so have a search, all will be answered. Mostly people on the V8 fords run them, but same principal. Also, there was a long a** post here on group buying a megasquirt.. that turned into like THE megasquirt thread.. have a read, lots of information in there. Cheers

Is there any info readily available on the TFI module and how it works with the mega squirt??
Also the trip computer in the EB runs off injector pulse width. If i'm gonna splice into the loom and leave the EEC IV running too, the trip computer would still work wouldnt it? The trip only gets screwed up when you change injectors (which i wont be at first anyway) so whats stopping it from working with a MS + stock injectors? |

nothing, in fact the EA/EB/ED is the trip computer to have when changing ECU's.. as all it needs is some simple sensors.. can't remember exactly what it needs, but it can run without the Megasquirt... well, Im gonna make it anyway.
Cheers EDIT - TFI module - Lots of information, as the fords run them (the V8's), so people in the states have them, so have a look on the mustang forums, but there's alot on them on the megasquirt forums.

Check the Megasquirt n spark extra pages for all you need to know on TFI. How it works, how it intereacts with MS http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-tfi.html

I've got 3 megasquirts at home, one for myself, one for waggin and another one I haven't assembled yet which I guess I'll sell later once it's all up and running.
I've been slack with installing mine and kinda shelved the idea after having trouble sourcing the EDIS6 modules to run the coil packs on my EF. I'll try and get it up and running once I finish off painting the car! I went with the MS1 kit over the MS2 and others that are starting to emerge due to the reliablility issues mentioned above.

damnit! i shouldnt have rushed it.. oh well
Already ordered/paid for the MSII. Oh well I'll hassle ya later Hyena when i get it built!! Oh - Did u happen to find a Stim ? i didnt order one, was kinda hoping i could get a lend of someones if they're going around at all.. |

I made my own stim, but my advice to everyone is to just buy the f'ing kit as it's a pain in the a*** to assemble from scratch when you're making your own circuit layouts from scratch!

wanna lend it to me in about 3weeks?
Then again, square wave tone generator will do for tacho input (i guess...) then some pots. I'll cross that bridge once i get to it.. hehe |

Well I would, but you're in Victoria and I don't think it'd post too well because it's all just loosely assembled on veroboard...

I made mine on carboard.. lol, pain in the a**. YOu shouldve got the PCB atleast. It's not that complicated. I got assembly instructions for DSE part numbers, and on a prototype board.. let me know if you want it, Ill email it to you...
Cheers

hehe.. god veroboard is cool.
Nah i checked out the schematic, will be a piece of piss! (provided i get motivated enough) Might start collecting parts for that next week or something. How exciting this all is |
