just a question i have a 96 series II ef and its done a head gasket.and some body told me i could uz a series II AU head gasket and if so will the extra compression play havoc with the computer. And will the gasket go straight on.

It will go straight on, wont raise compression, not that you notice, use AU head bolts at same time.

The AU metal head gaskets are thinner than the E-series ones so it will rasie your compression a bit, but that won't have any effect on the EEC. Could also look at the ACL race series gasket as they are suppose to seal really nicely too. As said, use some AU head bolts and make sure you use the AU torque specs, not the E-series specs.

There is no such thing as AU head bolts, they are the same for all the 4.0L engines, never changed.
gakest goes straight on, it is different in terms of how many holes are open or not for the jackets, and it is a s**t load thinner than the standard EF/L gasket. Have fun...

Not true, Pre-AU head bolts were Torque To Yield bolts whereas AU head bolts are not. |
