Hi all, my name is Paul and I'm the proud owner of my first car which is a ED Fairmont on gas and petrol. :)

When I first got it, it didn't run on petrol at all and the cause was stale fuel. I fixed this by adding injector cleaner and premium fuel and kept clicking on petrol as I was driving to make the car go on petty.

It was rough but then it came to normal and it's running fine on both lpg and petrol. :)

Now my problem is it is using way too much petrol! it sometimes says like 19.5lL to 100k and reading close to that.

I'm currently ordering brand new injectors and a o2 sensor to see if it improves my fuel economy.

Any ideas what could be the exact problem though? :|

If it idles fine on petrol, I'd be leaning towards a dodgy O2 sensor.

Good possibility on the O2 sensor.

also worth doing is your fuel filter, Check your fuel reg is ok. if its been unused for a bit, then it could be buggered as well, hego's are worth looking at. I think you may find that the filter is stuffed and the injector cleaner has dislodged some crap making its way into the injector system clogging them/not allowing them to close properly.

Also worthwhile resetting the the ECU as well once you have changed out the parts.

I shall replace the injectors and o2 sensor as soon as they arrive in the mail and reset the ecu once I've put them in. :)

Where is the fuel filter though? I've just turned 17 and I'm really getting into cars but I have no clue where the fuel filter is. :/

under the passenger side of the car about ½ way along, look for a silver can shaped thing, also ask at the car shop for the correct tools to change out a fuel filter, otherwise you will strip the ends and just make a mess of it. SO much easier with the correct tools.

A flare nut or line spanner is what you need. Don't use use a shifter on the fuel lines. In fact, don't use a shifter on your car at all lol!

do a search for double open ring spanners. Google is your friend. So is the search function, when it works... :|
