Hi, I have just purchased an EF wagon ex-taxi and the person I bought it off said it was LPG only but it is obviously just not running on petrol. It is a Tickford factory lpg. I would like to get it going again on petrol. The petrol pump and guage sensor connector was disconnected in the wheel well. It has 12v to it but if I plug it into the pump and turn off lpg the voltage drops to 3v and there is no pump noise (I expected there would be). How can I test the pump to make sure it is working?
thanks
James

Find the fuel pump relay, green or brown (can't remember which one) The one with the yellow/black wire that goes to the fuel pump. Pull out the relay and connect the terminals so battery power flows through to the fuel pump.

I believe when you turn the key to on (don't start it) the fuel pump primes for 2-3 seconds. Pull off a the inlet fuel hose and put it into a jar and do the key to on test. Fuel should be squirting out.

If not double check the filter, they can get pretty well full of crap.

I was going to ask the same question. I went to start my ef wagon today to come home from work and it wouldn't start ( for the first time in 10 years) like yours, I can't hear the fuel pump making that little noise it makes when you turn the key. Sorry to post a question on your post mate but it may help us both  Should I just replace the pump or could it be something else. Thanks..........David

Earth the top right pin of the diagnosis connector, make sure petrol is selected, and turn IGN on - the pump should run continuously.

a tip for anyone wondering if their fuel pump has worn out and died.. given to me by an auto electrician.

have someone try to start the car.. and while it is turning over, slap the bottom of the tank hard.. if the pump starts up, it's worn out and needs replacing.

obviously that will not be true in 100% of cases, but its apparently true in at least 95%.. and it was in my case also.
