Hey guys,
I have an EA and filled up the other day. For 225km it took 40 litres of unleaded. I worked it out that it uses 17.7L/100km. Is this alot for that model and what can be done to maybe improve the cars efficiency. Cheers |

Change fuel filter get injectors cleaned. Change spark plugs and leads.
Otherwise maybe its just getting old or as Frank said lighten your foot. |

IS IT RUNNING AT THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE as this has a major effect on consumption if thermostat stuck open the wrong temp signals are sent to the ECU and it thinks it is still cold thus richening up the mixture

well actually the temp gauge never goes off the cold part. It stays around the bottom all the time. It never gets to the word NORMAL written down the gauge. I reckon it hasn't been to normal for the past year or so and the last time it was there was probably when the air con was run. I dont run the air con cos the engine over heats.
could this be it Cheers fellas |

I have been told that you use a little bit more lpg when compared with petrol, but I doubt that it would ust that much unless you are revving the guts out of it. |

Nah that about right for a duel fuel car, the rule of thumb is 1.5times the petrol consumption so 17-18 is normal. Dedicated gas systems do better.

Yeah I get about 550km out of 80L of LPG in my dedicated gas ute ... but that's city driving delivering parcels/pallets ... and that's not being light footed either ... so i think I do pretty well.
Hoping to take it out on the open road and see what she does on the highway.

Just for interests sake, I got 370km out of 60 litres of LPG towing a car and trailer (about 2 tonnes) over the past couple of days. That was 50/50% city/highway driving.

That's actually not too bad for towing 2 tonne constantly. Going on figures that's about 16L/100km ... I think ... well around about that.
