What mods do you have first of all?

The time and money won't be worth the small gains. For example, add a BBM conversion and thermo fans (if it's a ea-ed), get a XR pressure reg, (or aftermarket), pod in the airbox, and a cam, maybe play with the head a little, then a tune would unlock some more power and be a little more worth it.

it will make a big difference if tuned right..
but we cant tell you how much power your going to get.. when i was getting my supercharged set up tuned, i gaind 18rwkw from ditching the factory ecu and going aftermarket.. with aftermarket ecu's you can tune it for max performance, where the std ecu is a comprimise of power and economy.. the factory ecu map is designed for smooth even drivability and has a conservative timing map for engine safety.. where an aftermarket ecu can be tuned within an inch of its life to give max throttle responce so you can take advantage of higher octane fuel , and you can also do away with the factory rev limiter and put your own limit where you want.. |

yea i get wat u mean im just sayin because i made 117.9rwkw at 402nm without extractors and a high flow cat and the car was running way 2 rich so i got a adjustable reg tuned that and wacked it bak on the dyno and it made 124.4rwkw at 423nm now ive put au injectors extractors high flow cat cresent motor sports 2A cam aswell so im just wondering how much kw extra will i make if i put a aftermarket ecu will make with that combo roughly

I read somwhere that the falcon 6 runs a little rich anyway?
If you have that much done just go for a J3 and the numbers will vary...but there will be a gain, a nice one.. (I thought you meant you had just an exhaust on it)

Haha, you lucky bastard, I was gonna say too that it will save you tuning fees every time too, that's why I'm waiting till I get to the cam stage before I get a chip so I know I can get the most mods into one tune (if you know what I mean) have you been recording your mods and gains with each dyno run/tune/extra mod? That would make a nice sticky in the tech forum...

most of your gains will be in the mid range... you wont make alot of top end, but if you have it stitting there doing nothing, you may as well install it!
on that setup i doubt you will gain more than 10rwkw at top end, but the gains will be more in the midrange where the falcon is known to run rich, especially when running a big cam with the BBM...

Lol aftermarket computer tend to be better for Bigger mods then what you have.
However if you want to beat the turbo guys you going to have to do alot more than a aftermarket ecu. However in saying that if you put it on now it also means when you do bigger mods that you can just tune. It all comes down to what you wanna do and whats your planned.

Well i know a bloke with an eb xr8 automatic and hes touched up the timing table and gained 9rwkw throughout the whole rpm range, thats not even touching the fuel maps...
Im guessing the 6's would be the same... conservative timing while running pig rich, i recon theres 20rwkw just from a proper tune... |
