My AU XR8 220 has the swirl pot issue. With hard acceleration the power cuts until you slow and the swirl pot refills. I read that you can rotate the swirl pot. Can someone explain how to rotate it, I can't see any mounts and the tank shape doesn't seem to suit turning it 180 degrees.

Interesting problem - is it immediate?
I would be leaving the swirl pot (They do a lot of research there!). However, have you also checked the filter/strainer on the bottom of the pump? That, combined with the swirl pot are used to keep fuel up to the pump. The swirl pot shouldnt empty of fuel so easily, and the strainer is there and as fine as it is so that if the swirl pot goes dry, it contracts on itself for a tiny amount of time so that the pump isnt starved. It was a common problem from what I am reading. Even Ford did it under warranty. The car basically cuts out during hard acceleration. As soon as you back off the power returns, only does it when tank is less than half. The fuel pump and filter are both new so it only leaves the swirl pot issue

Second - Ford replace pump with Higher Capacity unit. If that replaced the sock, it could still be 1. Third - Rotate the swirl pot like you said. The indication appears to be that the pump/Sock is actually incorrectly installed. or that the sock is faulty Worth taking a look anyway |
