i dislike gas powered cars....keep the gas to the bbqs! :P
the tanks look ugly in the boot, and they smell like
a sausage sizzle! not to mention the power loss...

that's why i can always smell onions when i'm riding around in the convertible

build an engine for straight gas, higher compression more advance - what power loss?

It's a bit cheaper, but you use more litres of the Crap any way, and then the Car gets an attitude towards Petrol after a while.
Next time your driving around and you see a late model Car broken down look at the number plate there is a 9 in 10 chance it is on Gas.

Now I'm waiting for someone who has a Car on Gas to Pay out on me. :D

*yawn*
Yeah, yawn is right.
I won't pay out on you XR8, just to say I prefer $35/week to the $70/week petrol was costing me. And it seems there's more bad jobs around with gas than good ones.

But as long as you don't like it there's more left for us who do. :D

Heh power loss? with the cash you save u can slap on plenty of mods. gas is 35-45c here.. bargain. I also find it far more consistent than petrol.

Gas haters can eat my bbq flavoured exaust :P

Mitch, we have actually GAINED power since having the car on Gas. An ugly in the boot, mate theres a space for it. It tucks in nicely.

Yes LPG may stink, but PULP isnt much bloody better!!

*meh* I'm paying over $1.20/L for 98 RON and that's the way i like it. If it was killing me and my wallet i'd go out and by a Prius *shudders*

LPG seems like a good option tho. Everyone knows these things arent exactly cheap to run, i can see why people flock to gas.

Yes but you need to go to straight gas to have any performance benefit. Many people just have dual fuel but have less performance and think that the only benefit is cheaper fuel costs.

Good thing about living in QLD is at the moment on the cheapest days you can get ULP for as cheap as 0.89c that I have seen, and if you have a shopper docket even cheaper

Amber - I wouldn't be complaining - as everyone has said, they're paying twice as much in most cases for ULP / PULP - count your blessings

As most of us know - LPG isn't what is once was...it used to be like BBQ gas...put that in your car and go for a drive *WHOA!*...I'm not 100% sure of it's RON nowadays, but economy ain't like the good ol days !

I have me EL Wagon for a daily driver - 55L usable LPG scuba tanks gets me 400 + kms - ~$20 / $25 a week on LPG - yep, that's ~13.75L/100kms...then I have Ghia for my weekend running around...best of both worlds 8-)

Gotta remember, the power delivery is different with LPG - single injection straight into the TB etc...it's not as sophisticated as MPFI *waits for Nigel to jump in here with his EB LPG MPI*

Don't get me wrong, LPG is great for getting around...but I really love driving my ghia...they're 2 totally different cars (yes I know one is a station wagon lol), it's difficult to explain...but I love both of them equally

Cheers,
Steve

I dont get this thread.

I pay about 43c/l at the moment.

I use the same amount of LPG as I do petrol.
I have the same efficiency as Petrol.
I have everything the same, but I have more power.

Y so many people bash LPG.

Hmmm.

LOL - Yeah your all jealous.

Sorry Nigel - not jealous - super happy with my GRA system atm :)

Will be sorry when it's sold...as me ghia will be my DD...but at the same time, I love driving her...so it's all good.

Cheers,
Steve

I've done the smart thing - My Go-Fast PULP car is for occasional weekend driving, and my daily drive is on LPG. Best of both worlds. Who really needs to hoon to work in peak hour traffic? Get real!

Everywhere in sydney except my local shell is 57.9cpl.. thats a bit rich. I'm paying 42.9cpl.. just gotta fight with the 20 taxi's who are queued.

Yeah my Xr is on gas so i will put my 2 cents worth in!!

* I believe my gas system is running quite lean atm because on average i will get ne where between 400-550kms on gas either on econ mode or normal doesnt matter too much about that. Thats good in a way (good as thats very good economy for a LPG XR) bad as i believe this is what is causing my very bad performance on gas.

* Now as my Gas system has been running s**t atm and i have not been driving it on gas for quite some time. Very bad idling and cuts out about 45% of the time now while driving. For no reason at all. :x

* So im paying $1.15/L for Premium Unleaded and im still getting about 500kms out of a full tank however its costing me exactly $30 more to fill up on premo than it cost me to fill up on gas... GGGRRRR!!!

In summation i think i need my gas system fixed asap as i miss my cheap fuel but i want my performance still. probally not really possible when you think about it thou.

Just a question does ne one elses car idle between 300-500rpm on gas when warm and or cold. And is it really lumpy as well. cause mine is sounds like a V8 .... really it does. :P
