Look at LM2 Glenneaux, looks f**k awesome. I want one. I recommend you look too, logs 16 channels of OBD2 data. screw that man the whole point of ODB2 ie a ba on is that you dont have to worry about that s**t. defeat the purpose? |

I was hoping I wouldn't need the bulky LM-1 unit in there all the time, but have a real-time afr readout always. I'd go the LC-1 but want to be able to use the data logging feature when I'm at the track and for fine-tuning. you do know that if you have an LM1 you'll also need the extra module for logging RPM and stuff... ?? the LM1 will log AFR straight up but thats pretty useless if you cant reference it again rpm and tps or something... Didn't see this post earlier... I intend on geting the AuxBox with it as well.

Most cars still only run narrowband O2 sensors, so the OBD2 info is no where near as useful as what can be provided by a wideband sensor.

So IDB2 is for BA obwards then? Of no use to me if it is.

do u guys put the wideband sensor up the exhaust or do u take the original naarrow O2 out and put the wideband in its place? what about the ECU doesnt it start doing strange things without the expected O2 input?

I intend on putting it just before the cat.

As I only use mine for diagnostics (not permanently installed), I just shove it up the tail pipe.
If it were to be installed for permanent use, I'd place the factory sensor (trouble is BF V8's have 4 of them), and make use of the simulated narrowband output the LM1 offers to feed back into the ECU so it's happy. (yes without a O2 sensor the ECU will be very unhappy).

They reckon you can get false readings by putting it up the tail-pipe. This worries me if it's the case as every dyno you go on they whack their probe up your hole...

There's the possibility of getting a leaner than true reading, as there's potentially more air around. That's why dyno places all have them mounted to a bit of pipe, so the sensor is picking up only the exhaust. AFAIK it's an accurate reading.
So make yourself up a foot or so long bit of tube, stick a O2 sensor bung on it, and away you go. Or do as I did in the beginning, simply ram it up the pipe a fair way. You still have to keep an eye on it so it won't fall out (the reading is pretty obvious when it does).

as far as the lm1 goes yes you have to have it connected and turned on whenever youve got the sensor fitted. which is a PITA. it also has to be plugged into the cigarette lighter so you end up with cables all over.. (i also find mine has a fit if i dont let it warmup the sensor before i start the car)
the lc1 is hardwired, so you dont need to worry about warming the sensor up etc... and you can watch it realtime either on a laptop of get one of the xd16 (iirc) guage thingys.. if your leaving the sensor fitted i recomend the lc1. (it also has a narrowband output the keep your ecu happy) -mitch

Looks like it'll be the LC-1 with the auxbox and xd16...

I always tune with the W/B sensor bolted close to the engine. When datalogging the a/f ratio matches up better with the rpm/kpa. When its up the tailpipe the exhaust takes time to reach the tailpipe so the readings do not match up to rpm/kpa. (duz that make sense)
If you are only doing steady state tuning it does not matter, but if you do tuning datalogging power runs then it does.

I've ordered the LC-1 and DL-32 for data-logging. When I get it in and running, I'll let you know how it goes. It won't be for about 5 weeks though as I just flew out for work today...
