Well, story goes..

my fuel economy is pretty f**k atm.. 17.6L/100 with only city driving.

thats running bp ultimate (filled up with it form an empty tank 200km ago. and reset the trip computer.

before that, reset the trip computer when i filled up from standard shell premium (95ron) and did 350km, with an average of 16.4 l/100

before that, pretty sure the economy was on 15.8 or something with regular unleaded..

*thinks ill be goin back to standard unleaded*

either way, those figures are too hight for my liking

I think I've only used ultimate once or twice, but I used optimax when i first got my car, all I can say is very disappointed, It may come in handy if your car has a LOT of power but for the average exhaust, extractors cam person it's a crock of s**t!

I get better economy on standard and no noticable loss in performance. All I can say is put what you want in your car, but I'm gonna keep putting that Green s**t from United in mine, works a treat!

Dont know about city driving, but on the hway, it is sooooo much better, more mileage, i get an extra 150kms from a tank , or there abouts.

If you can afford it - run it. The extra octane probably does very little for your car but its important to remember premium undleaded is cleaner fuel, it's not all about octane...

On that note, cant get anything besides 91RON at any servos over here at the moment...

Got boost? No :(

Agreed with bowsaw.
I get around an extra 100kms a tank freeway driving using ultimate.
Plus, I do notice a difference between it and 91oct, ESPECIALLY when the weather is warm.
I refuse to fill up with anything less then 95 octane as soon as the weather reaches the 20's.

considering the difference in cost per tank is a few dollars i don't see the point in not using it. %90 of people find it gives better economy. and like you said your figures a tad high anyway so more then likey some thing causing your problems

i like burrying my right foot through the firewall as much as anyone else, and have noticed that doing so you will use more premium fuel, but just doing everyday driving without flogging it have gotten 180 more k's out of a tank of optimax.

mmm

high performance cars with high comp/boost definite benifit to be gained

average car that has NO knock sensor can not take advantage of teh higher octane

not effective on teh 6cyls much mre effective on teh v8's from what i hear
saying that my au has little benifit to bp ultimate
so i run normal ULP

My tuner (the good one, not the bad one) reckons there is no noticeable difference in power/economy between 95RON and 98RON fuel. However, like everyone else has said, 9RON is cleaner, so hats what I run unless I absolutely have to run normal premium.

if ur can has knock control, then it will benifit using higher octane, and even if it doesnt u still should get a little better preformance/econmy as higher octance burns hotter there for ur engine will have better heat co-effeciancy so less power lost through ur cooling system and exhaust.
also when people go on about they put a tank of 98 in and dont see much or any inprovement, try making sure ur engine is running correctly eg no air leaks, or faults like cam sensor ect. and try resetting ur adaptions and run a few tanks of it,
sure u will see a difference
