I have a 3/8 steel fuel line that I have shortened and was trying to put brass olive connectors on without success. Can I just put the hose over the line and use a hose clamp to join it given its the supply line from the fuel pump and needs to handle at least 4Bar? Any other options?

olives wont seal... They're for copper pipe and such...
It needs some sort of double flare joiner (Maybe a brake place would have these)? And you'll need to double flare the end of the pipe which means the use of a special tool and you'll probably have to pull the pipe out depending on how well you can hang onto the tool... Other option is to at least get a single flare on it and use your hose clamp over proper fuel (not heater) hose then... You'd want some sort of risen edge to stop the hose sliding off... I have a brass barbed tee in my fuel hose which runs up to a connector so I can easily check my fuel pressure (and hence the health of my regulator) and used quality stainless hose clamps on it and it works fine... Cheers, Tim

Thanks guys, I had priced a double flare tool and that when I went and got the Olive seals.
Might do a single flare and use proper flare joints.

Ripped the steel lines out and purchased some anodised aluminium ones from Ebay.
Got the correct adapters from the same mob, all for an arm and a leg. At least now I can run them down the other side of the MAV where they now belong. Thanks for your help on this guys.

I'm too late. But you can get a fitting from Russell that attaches to the tube and has a male AN fitting. This is what I used for my fuel system.

Have not installed the lines as yet but the fittings I have are brass olive to a hose barb.
