Hi All

I just bought a "max ellery's vehicale repair manual" for AU's. I figured this book would have been really useful however it persistantly says all the way through, "conduct KOER test in diagnostics chapter"

The diagnostics chapter doesn't explain how to do any tests! only the error codes.

Does anyone know how to initialize KOER and KOEO?
(If so it might be worth putting together a technical document of some kind)

Thanks
:)

PS happy new year everyone!

KOER is Key On Engine Running and KOEO is Key On Engine Off

Max isn't real clear with many things in his books. My EA-ED book has more spelling mistakes than a yr 2 english class.

burn that book mate, it will cause you more trouble than its worth.
i have compared the max ellery manual to the genuine ford manual and there is some shocking differences.

lol, yeah that book is dissapointing. i know what koer and koeo means! what is the procedure to getting into those modes??

it turns out i got oil leaking into my coolant some how, i've taken the head off and i'm a bit on the concerned side because there appears to be nowhere on the gasket where the leak can be occouring. I also found sand in my coolant which suggests casting sand in my head (or block?) i had a welsh plug replaced not so long ago too, which suggests my block is in bad shape.

Back to the book anyway... i decided to replace the chain since everything is off any way. The book said to get the balancer off all i need to do is put it in gear and put the hand break on. of course that hasn't worked since it was automatic (i was hoping the torque converter would latch or something but no) so thats been an epic fail, i tried holdin the timing chain but i ended up snapping the chain guide so the cover has to come off!! anyone know a good way to get the balancer off????

agree with you on the whole max ellery manual. my ba one says to do alot of things like its an au, even though its put together different. the back seat removal is copied from an au manual i think, as it doesnt match with my ba....
anyhow if you need a manual i do have a decent au one here i can do you cheap. ive sold that car so dont need the book no more. ill check the details of the book and post them up for you tommorow.

if you have a spare belt you can wrap it around the crank pulley and around the radius rod bolt(i think) just something to lock it against. Sort of like the same principle of an oil filter strap wrench. I have an old timing belt off another motor that might do the job if you need it. Don't use your good drive belt as it will probably wreck it.
