Sender has two screws securing it to the tank, easily obtained and replaced. But first I would be looking at the wiring connections and in particular the earthing of that sender.

SO I unhooked the gas gauge that was on the actual tank took the 1wire off and it still reads 100% it also ses that 80% is full and it's at 100!! Should it still read full if all wires are disconnected or am I in need of a new 1 and if so were would I start looking?

There should be two wires on the sender, if the tank sender(gauge) is not connected of faulty the fuel gauge will read full.

Well if both wires are connected to the sender then short out the sender with the wires still connected and see if the fuel gauge moves, if it does then it's the sender otherwise it's most likely the wiring, the changeover relay or least likely the fuel gauge...

And if there's only 1 black wire connected to the face of the gauge
