Just wondering if anyone else has heard of LPG heads?

Hey there.. I found this on a Reconditioned head site.. thought i'd answer your question - hope it clears everything up
"Special LPG Cylinder Heads Cylinder heads subjected to LPG operation tend to suffer from valve sinking into the valve seat due to the increased combustion temperature and lack of lubricating qualities of LPG. Cast iron cylinder heads without valve seat inserts are especially prone to valve seat recession. Some cylinder heads, especially those from unleaded vehicles, often have reasonable valve and seat durability, however when the valves eventually fail, we can improve on the original valve and seat combination to further improve valve life. Abba has been modifying cylinder heads to suit LPG operation for over 15 years and can guarantee our LPG cylinder heads will last for the long run. Our cylinder heads which suit LPG operation typically have a full set of K-Line bronze valve guides, Serdi LPG valve seat inserts, and tufftrided sometimes stellite faced valves. " |

yer bassically a lpg head has differnet valve seats and guides to petrol engines with usually slightly higher comp as well.

Generally speaking, if a car is built to run reliably on ULP, it will run on LPG.
LPG spec heads are more aimed to those with heads built to run on leaded fuel.

not sure how to spell it but gas heads have stellight valves and seats, basically alot harder steel as gas or ULP does not have the lead content to lubricate them.

it sounds like gas heads are more for cars that have gone from Leaded Petrol to LPG, than for cars that have gone from ULP to LPG, as they'd already have pretty hard valves and seats. sounds like the same sorta thing they do to convert LP to ULP engines.
