Not wanting to hijack this thread at all guys but I'm doing a manual conversion on my ED V8 wagon right this minute. I've been trying to locate the same information for the V8 and its TCM. I have read somewhere that you join the "violet/white and the violet wires with a 4 ohm resistor". The problem that I have is that I cant find any violet wires near my TCM or on the BTR round plug. Anyone here have access to a max ellery book that could look up the drive wires on the round BTR plug on the V8s? Oh yeah and BTW, I've got a 4 ohm 5 watt resistor. Is this correct?

This is my first post here since I was mysteriously deleted from this site. Weird.

I'm after a EF series 1 V8 manual ECU.
I might be buying an auto EF V8 but I'll be doing a conversion on it.
PM me if you manage to get one.
Cheers.

I would've assumed the V8 ECU's are all the same, since the transmission is controlled by a seperate computer. Just remove the trans computer?

There's a bit more to it with the V8 engine. Will try and dig up some info for ya.

Try this link:

An interesting read. Definately needs sorting out due to the torque reduction function described in the thread.

I agree with you . i have sold EB V8 manual conversions and they have been bolt in and drive away. no stuffing around with ECU,s at all.

I've Been experimenting by putting a 5K Ohm resistor across the PRDNL plug (plug C-129) (purple / light green and Violet wires) this theoretically is to trick the ECC that the vehicle is in Drive.
