Hey all,
Just need some advice and hopefully to be pointed in the right direction. I finished restoreing my T5 from an EA. I got it from a wreckers along with pedal box, pedal, twin thermos, cable, and a very good nick clutch and pressure plate + flywheel. The old auto is out, and I just needa top up the Manual with Oil and She is good to go in. Specs: CAI, Log Manifold, 4.0ltr OHC w/Reco'd stock Head, Headers to 2.5", T5 Manual Conversion and Twin Thermos. I'm stumped as to what to run ECU wise. I think I'm set on a J3 chip from TI performance $120, but I don't know what model to run? I have an EB II Fairmont auto ECU. If I go for XR6 Stock Fuel maps will increase performance? ED XR6 Manual - I have to either buy or make a thermo switch? EL XR6 Manual - Is tuned for Broadband Manifold, will the fuel maps make it run poorly? All feedback appreciated. Cheers, Tim. |

Why would you want to run an xr6 tune?
Do you have the fpr, cam and an xr6 head? If not, you will notice no difference in performance. Run the standard a*** stocko tune for your model. Why dont you send a pm to galapogos01 on here and he can set you straight.

I was under the impression that XR6 ECU was a better fuel map even for the standard head, they are the same price, and I'm assuming that my good flowing intake and exhaust would see an improvement with XR6 ECU over the stock tune.

it will probably make stuff all power difference, they had alot of different parts on the xr6s compared to the standard falcons just to give a slight power increase so if you fitted the xr6 ecu i doubt there would be much of a noticable difference
