Megasquirt is made and it all checks out with the stimulator.
I can turn some knobs and on the screen guages move and the little LED's light up. Im quite surprised it worked so easily. The real test will be when it goes in the car though. Self satisfaction is high atm. |

Oh btw. The EDIS system does use the dizzy ignition setup rather than the VR setup. The edis module converts the signal in that way.

good work dan, can't wait to see the EA up and running again. How many hours would you say you put into building the MS2 ? are there any special tools you need apart from a good soldering iron. How much has it set you back $ so far for the MS2 ?

About 8 hours all up. Its really easy, just time consuming. The GF came over last night and went to sleep while I sat up to 2am soldering.
A soldering iron and some needlenose pliers is all you need. A solder sucker is good for when you stuff up as well. Its cost me about $550 so far. $200ish of that is for postage, the stimulator which you dont need if you borrow mine and a new air temp and coolant temp sensor so I didnt have to calibrate the stock ford sensors. Ive got a wideband setup you can borrow if ya want as well to get it tuned on the road. |

It takes about 15 seconds to calibrate the air and coolant temp sensors

Ah well. Thats what I get for not reading everything first. My plenum guy managed to lose my air temp sensor anyway so that is no loss.
Do the sensors need to come out so they can be recalibrated? My coolant temp sensor isnt coming out unless I pull the motor. I was going to tap a thread and fit the new one into the thermostat housing somewhere. |

Sensors dont need to come out. You just get the temperature/resistance values for 3 positions (i use 0, 50, and 100 degrees C), punch it into megatune and the software does the rest.
Both ford air and coolant temp are the save values. This is the table

I started installing this in my car last night.
Ive mounted it, a few relays, a fuse distribution block and have got the ECU to turn on. Hopefully it is finished by Sunday night and the car runs. |

i got my ms2 from the states two days ago
made a start last night at about 10:30 its now 5:42am and i'm nearly finished. i'm feeling like i should go to bed right about now... this is a retarded question but i have to ask. The idle controller on the eb I, is that PWM or stepper?? i'm thinking pwm since theres only two wires on it, just need to know for sure cheers guys ps, did'nt bother with stim, just got gf to hold the 9v battery on pins 28 and 8 on the db37 connector, the voltages came up perfectly at 5v on all the correct pins on the 40 pin holder hav'nt had a chance to test the max232 with the computer, but d**k smiths will be open in a few hours, so i can get a serial connector then and sort that out then; vista better behave itself with hyperterm
