ive read alot of swapping ECU's but have found nothing at all about changing/editing the memcal.
i've been suggested that instead of swapping ECu and instead of getting a piggy back computer, I should change or edit the stock memcal chip?? Can anyone elaborate on this? For stock EF ECU (4dbg) can you get different memcals? Is this the same as what the dyno guys do when they tune? cheers |

Hey mate, no this is how the holden commodores are done, falcons need the chip, thats what i was told yesterday by someone at AutoTune or something

This is correct, Holden use MemCals to change operating conditons of the factory ECU.
VS right up to VY commodore supercharged V6's (L67) use the same ECU as an NA engines, the only differences are that a MemCal is used to change the ECU outputs to suit boost applications. Programable MemCals are available, which makes it so easy for the Holden guys to tune their cars. I'm not sure if anything similar is available for our Fords. I know you can get eliminator and interceptor chips that fit in the 'J' port of the Ford EECV, but where they're from and what applications they suit i'm not sure. |
