The blokes ta work were telling me today that if you put a bit of metho in your tank every three months or so, it cleans your fuel tank out and also burns away any moisture that is in there.
Is this true? i didnt wanna give it a try just incase it f**k something that they didnt know about. cheers BEN

my mate does it to his vs sometimes cos of their fuel bowser on teh farm gets water innit... it doesnt hurt the engine as far as i know but it helps remove the moisture

When Toddy got a gutsful of water in his xr6t I put 2litres of metho in it and within 5 minutes it was almost running on 6 cylinders whereas before it would struggle with 3 and a half. Also used to put a bit of metho in the bike every now and then to dissapate water in the fuel tank and stop it rusting out.

don't no if it hurts cars but i had a GSX750 a few years back and it dropped a cylinder,the bike shop told me it had burnt out a valve and it was going to cost a s**t load to fix.but a few mates told me to try metho and it fixed it.

Metho in the fuel tak is perfect for removing water,-condensation built up inside the tank by varying temperatures outside.

Water also gets in the fuel tank from servos that run low on fuel in their underground tanks. They use the water to float the remaining fuel to the top (water is denser than fuel therefore heavier) so that they can continue to sell. Sometimes they overdo the amount of water....result: car won't run any good!

Metho is basically just ethanol (90% or more), which is in most fuels nowadays anyway.

this is a old fix for water in fuel, it won't get rid of excess amounts of water, if you get a gut full of water your better off draining the tank, but to combat condesation a little every and then won't hurt, the metho kinda absorbs the moisture, it takes it into suspesion and allow it to pass through the system and be burnt off.

i have used metho for years a old machanic told me to use it put in the tank about every 12 months and i have had no water problems since .that was 18 years ago
