Can I run the A9P in my 5.0 EB ?
Ive got access to one at a reasonable price.. thought it might be a go-er for TwEECer

Definately tweecer/eec tuner compatible...
You got smartlock? Edit: BTW A9P is the automatic version of the A9L (5 speed EEC) but i spose Tweecer can take care of that.

Yeh, I was aware that its TwEECer ready and the auto sister of the A9L. My EB 5.0 is Auto.. so thats perfect
The EB is Smartlock.. Did any of the mustangs know about smartlock? I know you can start a smartlock car on a non-smartlock ECU, but it doesnt work the other way around. So if this ECU is smartlock ready, im fine.. if it isnt smartlock aware, i'm also fine. Win/win

Sounds like it should be a winner... but would like to hear Pete's thoughts on the subject.
Just wondering how the US EEC's go about controlling their "AOD" transmission and how this is implemented via a trans control module.. or if you could control the solenoids directly from EEC?

Isnt it the same deal for the US and the AU 5.0's - they simply use a separate trans computer. it should be almost totally independant from the ECU, except some simple info sharing such as perhaps ground speed, engine rpm and trans temp - but this info may be collected by both computers using the same sensor.
The whole trans thing is a bit of a grey area on the 8's

4.9 EF gets crazy idea: http://www.baumannengineering.com/tcs.htm

Steve Butchard is the one to talk to about AOD 0414654327 (guessing this is still his number) Easy to know you aren't thinking of a E40D unless you own a F series or want the leg room of a match box in your Falcon.

I was just trying to find the same sort of info. I didn't know that you could run a smartlock car on a non smartlock EEC, that solves one of the problems. The other thing is that although the trans has its own controller, it still recieves input from the engine EEC and I could not find out if would work without an autralian auto EEC, or if the US EECs are configured the same way. There may also be an issue with airconditioning as that is also controlled (well parts of it are) by the EEC.

If you guys have a manual falcon, you best off getting a tweecer and trying to run the A9L Software. I think you can even do it on your ECU.
Remember - Smartlock is just an additional program running in the ECU - it only reads the signal so not having it doesnt make your ECU Broken. Also interestingly for those of us with 6 cylinders : If you have an auto ECU and a tweecer you can just run the manual program(which Im fairly sure Pete has). Tweecer is a complete ROM replacement : You can put any ROM you like into your EEC and as long as it has the right outputs on it already (as in as long as your using less of them) then it should work. Thus is the theory anyway. Think about it : Get a manual XR ECU for your manual conversion, or spend your $$ on a tweecer and then tune it as well. Mmmmm Nigel |

so does this mean that a us eeciv can plug straight into an aus loom (us auto into aus auto, us manual into aus manual) & the only differences will be no smartlock function & the look-up tables, which can be changed with tweecer(rt) anyway? Hmmm....
my series 1 eb 5.0 auto (1dga eeciv, pre-smartlock) is not supported by tweecer rt (or std version for that matter) and i wouldnt mind using the a9l or c3w (if i can find one) with an rt. i just need to know if they are plug and play in an aus loom. (i think this is still on topic) cheers

I beleive they are.. I'm looking to buy this A9P and plug it straight on in.
I'll get pinout info on both of them.. i'm 99% sure its all the same, but if you find that one or 2 pins are different, just chop, twist and tape

The US EECs will fit onto our looms but some pinouts or functions (mainly with auto transmissions and AC control) may be different. You will also find the US runs a different VSS setup (US runs VR while aussie runs Hall effect) and needs to be modified to work correctly.
