Hi all

Got this strange intermittent problem where on moderate to hard acceleration (from stand still) the car stutters and is starved of fuel for a moment, then revs u hard and takes off as it should.

Done a sensor diagnostic, all came up clean, took it to the mechanic who checked the spark and vac hoses, exaust etc, best he could give me was get yer injectors clean (which theyre probably due for)..

My first suspect was the fuel pump, does the EEC IV have error codes related to it?

Problem not fixed, and its pretty much down to the pump as I just put a set of reconditioned injectors in. Electrics are all fine I believe.

Whats all this I hear about hitting the fuel pump? Ive heard several references to it. It helps it along some how?

If only I could have just whacked my head last time I blew a gasket :\

hitting it isn't a solution it's a way to sorta "wake the pump up" so you can get home or wereever your going and if hitting it makes the car run there is the problem sorta of a bush mechanic test rig just use and end of a screw driver or something OR turn the ignition on and pull ya carpet up and listen for a clicking noise (pump is working)

mine is intermittent and usually flakes out on the freeway more than anything, might put cruise control on and pop the boot, and climb around one day on the way to uni :P

Best get a wheel alignment first though
