How do I check my fuel pump in my na fairlane I couldnt get the giant hose clamp off so I just pried it off but how do I do the rest ive tried using a screwdriver and hammer but no luck. Should I just persevere or try to find the tool needed? Also what is the hose clamp for?

Use a Hammer and a screwdiver and you will f**k the Ring. Borrow tthe correct tool and it is easy.

The clamp is to stop the plastic from expanding, nothing else. I just put a new Walbro in mine and used the correct tool. Bit tight getting off but never touched the clamp.

Before you screw the ring back on wipe the threads with heaps of Vasaline, makes it so much easier to screw on and lock down. Ensure the big O ring is in good nick and properly located before you install the pump.
