G'day ladies and gentlebodies, I have an EL and I have had need to play with the timing. I did all the right things, like bridge the A and B teminals etc. and set the timing at zero (or as close as practical)

Now, after doing this and removing the bridgeing wire etc., the timing is supposed to move to somewhere like 10 deg., showing that the ECU has taken over.

Well.......mine doesn't

The timing moves well enough when the engine is reved, showing the ECU is working then, but it wont move from the "static" setting after setting the base timing

Thinking there may have been a problem with the ECU, I put in another.

No difference

Anybody get any ideas as to why this may be happening??

What I have done is set the base timing to about 10 deg, and it seems to work reasonably well from there. But I still should be able to se the base timing to zero.

Im not 100% about EL's but on EA-ED's you set the base timing to 10 deg not 0.

In the manual, it definitely says set to zero +/_ 2 deg. I know the EB is set to 10 deg, as I did one the other day. but this one is supposed to be set to zero.
