My Au1 Fairmont ghia got 7.4l/100km on a trip from Canberra to Gold Coast, 4 people full of luggage, Climate control on. The Car only left 4th gear 5 times on a 1100km trip. Also brang a 20lt Jerry so I didn't stop at a petrol station the whole way back. Used 91 ulp.

The best economy I got out of my fairlane was from adelaide to melbourne during the middle of the night with the climate control on I got 775 out of the tank using cruise all the way.

The worst I got was Melbourne to Adelaide towing a square box trailer, I got 275kms out of a tank *ouch*

I read the new peugeot diesel did an economy run and averaged 3.3l/100 - got 1800 kms out of the tank...... I would only have to fill my car every seven weeks!

I just filled up my Turbo Diesel Mondeo for the first time (its a new one i got last week) after 1029km on the tank (67L to till).
Thats an average of 6.7L per 100km.

On a highway run of 400km i averaged 5.2L / 100km. Not bad for a vehicle roughly the same size as an e series.

I did some maths the other day, and my g/f's getting about 9/100 out of my mighty boy lately, which is pretty s**t considering the size of the car & engine. Maybe it's the larger tyres. Last time the 543cc engine was in, she was averaging 6/100 with the stocko 145/70 12's, i've now got 165/65 13's on the 'boy. Handles heaps better!

Still, on petrol it's more expensive than my EB on LPG to run!

Cheers

ToranaGuy

The economy some of you guys are getting from your falcons are incredible. My old EF did a best of 580km on a highway run before the light cam on. That was auto, 140xxxkm cam, exhaust and intake driving nice. My LS1 managed 720km before the reserve alarm sounded (at the 60l mark) on a country trip to Bunbury and back then some town driving for 2 or 3 days. 6 speeds definately a lot.

i think its the car dude, cos i haev an EL GHIA auto stock with a k&n filter and its a bit wierd, it does around town anywhere from 10 per hundred up to 15 odd..
highway is strange too sometimes it will hover around the 7 - 8 litres per hundred but others its up over 10?
F**k things...
the ef gets good mileage all the time however.
