Today I thought I would install an after market CD player in my Lane but now Ive got one big issue that I have no idea about. When the doors are open the BEM ticks like a clock and even with the doors shut its still does it. None of the interior lights come on, they dimmly tick with the noise. But even weirder the CD player illumination ticks in tune with the ticking noise from the BEM and when I try to play the FM, no tunes will come out and when I put a cd in, the radio cuts in and out.

I need all the assistance I can get because the workshop manual just aint helping out. Could this be a BEM or what?

Cheers

Run it could be a bomb! but obviously a 5.0l NF couldn't be a bomb! Seriously it is odd, have you tried disconnecting all the wires for cd player and what happens? i fitted a kenwood head unit by using the adapter plugs you buy off ebay and found that one wire was in the plug in the wrong spot! luckilly i have a mate who did his time with Ford as an Auto Electrician!

Don't touch s**t if you don't know what your doin. do your reasearch first, not after you stuff it up. Its not hard to ask for wiring colors, easier than fixing a burnt out car. Pull it all out and start again.

The ticking could be the BEM trying to control the power antenna, did you hook that up to your new CD player, if so check there.

Ive disconnected all the CD player loom and still it persists. Its something to do with Smartlock because the light flashes on the dash when it is ticking. Yeah I hooked up the power antena and it works.
