so i swapped engines and couldnt get fuel or spark.
fuel is now fixed, spark isnt.

so far i have replaced/swapped:
dizzy/TFI
ECUs
injector loom
coils
smartlock modules

now at the moment i am only testing spark at the coil.
when i use a test light on both wires connected to the coil with the ignition 'on', both wires are recieving a positive signal - is this correct?

is there any other wires i can test to find out what could be causing the issue?

i cant think of anything else that could be wrong.
i have checked for any melted wires and i didnt change anything during the engine swap!

if all else fails, can someone please explain how i can lock the timing at the dizzy so the ECU has nothing to do with timing?
that may be a way around it for now as i need to move the car soon to clean all the oil and s**t under it.

if anyone can think of anything that will help - no matter how strange, please please tell me.
this is doing my f**k head in lol.

...did you let your smartlock relearn?

i have 4 known working TFIs, the dizzy that i pulled out is less than 4 months old.
but no, not a new one.
i cant afford to buy a new component for every unit at a guess its the reason.

and yes, the smartlock module did relearn.

the engine cranks, the injectors are firing, but no spark.

the thing im most curious about is my findings at the coil.
is it normal for both wires being fed to the coil to be positive?

to me thats a faulty tfi or coil.. its the tfi that ignites the coil.. the coil should only have 12v from ignition side.

the dizzy sends the pip signal to the ecu, the ecu sends the spout signal to the tfi then the tfi ignites the coil..

that was my thought also, but as said, both dizzy and coil were new in october.

anyway, i got one from the wrecker on an exchange basis so i can swap for another.

is there a way i can test the TFI or coil outside the car?

also, would locking the dizzy by removing the connection between ECU and TFI be of any use?

i guess it could be the coils, i noticed that i only receive a positive signal on the negative side of the coil when its plugged in.
so ill try swapping through all 6 that i have here lol

edit - tested all the coils and they all have 1.1 resistance across negative and positive terminals.
the manual says they should be .41-.45

ive tested them also.

the hall sensor is working as i can see voltage change on the output of the TFI, so i assume the TFI is working.
but as soon as i plug in the coil i get a positive signal at the coil and at the TFI :/

f**k me!
the earth on the TFI loom was giving 5volts positive lol
took 2 days and alot of f**k around to find, but got it!
hopefully that fixes the injector issue also.
